Free Arts Selects New Executive Director, Rachel Oesterle

Free Arts of Arizona welcomes Rachel Oesterle as its new executive director. Oesterle’s vast understanding of the foster care system and her passionate commitment to the abused, homeless and at-risk youth of our state will be an invaluable asset to Free Arts.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Rachel’s caliber to lead Free Arts in its next stage of growth and development,” commented Rick Cohen, Free Arts Board President. “Her demonstrated ability to lead combined with her passion for helping children make her both a natural choice for advancing our efforts.”

Ms. Oesterle brings more than 30 years of professional experience and the proven ability to successfully direct a nonprofit organization. She was the executive director of Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK-Arizona), a child welfare organization she grew to over $3 million with an array of services designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive children and their families. Since leaving AASK-Arizona in 2002, she has had her own consulting business—Oesterle and Associates LLC—providing strategic planning, fundraising and organizational development to local and national nonprofits. She has served for the last three years on a team of consultants at Young & Company, a firm that provides capital development planning, management and counsel to some of Arizona’s most respected non-profits including Sojourner Center, where Oesterle managed and completed an $11.8 million capital campaign.

“I am delighted and honored to join Free Arts of Arizona in such a significant way. Its reputation as a well-respected and professional organization is well known,” stated Oesterle. “Together with our donors, volunteers and partners, Free Arts will continue to inspire hope and healing in the lives of abused, homeless and at-risk youth throughout our community.”

Ms. Oesterle’s responsibilities will include completing a multi-year strategic plan for the organization, leading the development and implementation of a major gift fundraising strategy, leading and cultivating continued board leadership and managing a team of nearly 20 human service and arts professionals.
