20-Week Mentor Program Provides quality screened and trained volunteers who work with children and adolescents living in residential treatment facilities, group homes, and domestic violence and homeless shelters in Maricopa County. Volunteers share their talents in the visual arts, music, dance, theater, creative writing, poetry and other art forms with children every week for twenty week sessions. Free Arts volunteers are positive role models who encourage appropriate social interaction, assist in developing a renewed sense of self worth, build trust and create a non-judgmental environment to encourage the expression of emotions. Each volunteer completes a screening and training process before being placed with children, and completes an evaluation of their sessions each week. |
